Toy Fair 2014

Holy cow, people! It certainly has been quite a while since I have last posted anything here. I must apologize, the last month has certainly been a busy one in the real world, but I do hope to post often at The Kaiju Planet.

Anyways... so what'd we miss?

Oh, right - Toy Fair!

In regards to S.H. MonsterArts, nothing new... except for the announcement that the S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla 2014 will be coming sometime this summer! Apparently the figure's prototype was shown behind closed doors.

On top of the usual stuff that we see at these events, we are treated to some brand new stuff from companies besides Bandai! Diamond Select showed off their Vinyl Bank figures, which include Godzilla 1989 (Full Body & Bust), King Ghidorah 1991 (Bust), Burning Godzilla (repaint of the Godzilla 1989 Full Body Vinyl Bank), and plans for an eventual MechaGodzilla 1974 (Full Body). They also had a neat MechaGodzilla '74 bottle opener too.

Then next was NECA. They showcased their Pacific Rim 7" Figure Series 3 assortment featuring Battle Damaged Knifehead, Coyote Tango, Cherno Alpha, and Trespasser. They also unveiled, what is to be assumed, the final product for their 18" Knifehead, coming out in May.

NECA has also unveiled their plans for Series 4 and 5. The two Kaiju that will be made in Series 4 will be Scunner and Axehead (similar to Trespasser, but with some differences...) and in Series 5 we'll be receiving a new version of Gipsy Danger - a brand new sculpt featuring improved detail and articulation as well as a Plasma Cannon accessory. Also it was stated by NECA via Twitter that the next Pacific Rim 18" figure will be Cherno Alpha.

Finally, at the last minute, thanks to Chris Mirjahangir of Toho Kingdom and the Godzilla 2014 Merchandise Group on Facebook, we got our first glimpse into NECA's upcoming Classic Godzilla figure series! The first figure to be officially unveiled is Godzilla 1994. The second figure to be released alongside it in Series 01 will be Godzilla 1984. Both are currently available for pre-order at BigBadToyStore now!
