The S.H. MonsterArts line brings us yet another great figure, Godzilla Junior!
This is the fourth web exclusive item to be released in the line with the last one being the younger version of Junior, Little Godzilla. Unlike most figures in the line, its box is much smaller when compared to the rest. Based on its size and limited extras, the box size makes sense and is indeed a space saver. Heck, it's shorter than the height of the S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla figure!
The figure itself stands at around four inches tall, around half the height of the S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla 1995 figure. Despite its very small size, it is a really well sculpted, detailed, and articulated figure. Fortunately, Junior does not have the infamous 'derpy eyes.' I was worried that this would be an issue in regards to its small size, however I am happy that I was wrong. Junior has various points of articulation as all MonsterArts have - jaw, head, neck, torso, shoulders, arms, wrists, waist, legs, feet, and tail. The articulation in the tail is pretty neat. There are joints every two sections. Unlike the bigger figures, Junior does a better job at concealing the joints on the tail.
Like November's Godzilla 1995 figure, Junior is scarce on extras. The only accessories that the figure comes with are two SC-9 helicopters, based on the chopper that the character Miki Saegusa used in the movie, Godzilla vs. Destoroyah. Both choppers have special stands with a wire arm that can be bent any way you want. They also come with a pair of alternate rotors that are non-moving. The ones on the choppers when they're taken freshly out of the box are made to seem as if they're moving. Though they may be somewhat unnecessary, they are neatly sculpted, regardless.
Overall, this is a really neat figure. It perfectly is in scale with many of the other MonsterArts figures (aside from Little Godzilla whose out of scale). I am giving it a 4/5 review. I have no complaints on the figure itself. It's a great addition. However, the accessories could have been better... At least add a little beam effect for Junior!
I await patiently for next month's figure.... DESTOROYAH!!!
Cool review and I like the third pic most of all. :)
