Upon opening the packaging, I had no prior idea of how small or large this figure would be in person. Based on official stats, this figure is bigger than it really should be. Little Godzilla is supposed to be 1/3 Godzilla's size, however the figure stands at least 1/2 of his size. This will make some unusual display issues when I receive the S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla Junior next January.
Sorry about the glare. The room was quite dark, and I had to use the flash. |
Regardless to the size, Little Godzilla actually impressed me despite other collectors' distaste with the figure. Being around three inches in height, Little Godzilla possesses a good number of articulation - the jaw, shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, thighs, knees, and feet. It's tail is NOT articulated, which is fine since Little G's tails is basically a stub. There is no articulation in the neck either so in order for the figure to turn, you need to turn the waist. My favorite position to put Little G in is a sitting position, which you'll see a bit later.
In person, the detailing of this figure is pretty good. It's one of the few that actually look likes the prototype. On mine though, there are minor paint scuffs, mostly on the teeth where a spot of red on the right top fang can be seen. It isn't a problem though and can be easily hidden from sight.
Along with Little Godzilla, a set of four crystal pillars as well as two Tamashii Stands are included. The crystals are mean't to go with the S.H. MonsterArts SpaceGodzilla figure that was released back in late March. You can also utilize to form the crystals into a prison for Little G like from the movie, Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla (1994). They definitely go well with SpaceGodzilla in the background, and that's how I prefer to display them. The crystals make SpaceGodzilla a lot more menacing in appearance.
All in all, Little Godzilla may not be the best S.H. MonsterArts figure so far. However for its size it is quite impressive and a neat addition. The accompanying crystals for SpaceGodzilla are quite cool as well and add to the figure's character. Though the pricing for this little bundle is a bit too much in my opinion, I like it regardless. In my final rating out of five, I'll be giving the S.H. MonsterArts Little Godzilla & Crystal Set a 3/5. It's a great figure and accessory, but the only detractor is the price.
Note: I switched the heads of my old and new S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla figures after this photo. |
